Dan Casey - Owner/Occupational Therapist
Dan received his Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy at Saint Catherine’s University in Saint Paul, MN in 2004. Dan started his therapy career out by first obtaining an occupational therapy assistant degree from Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown, SD in 1998. He then went on and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Administration from the University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota in 2002. Dan contributes his
success in life to a few factors. One is his military experience of being a paratrooper with the 82ND Airborne Division during the Gulf War. He stated the military gave him the never quit attitude in life and gave him the sense of feeling that one can achieve anything if they put their mind to it. Second he states his favorite instructor Gwen Hawley from his occupational therapy assistant program gave him the education and a love for being a therapist and a passion to work with children. And Dan’s best motivator, mentor, role model, love of his life, and passion for shooting for the stars is his wife Justin Casey and their two boys Hunter and Carson. Dan’s special interests and hobbies are spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, and coaching youth wrestling and football. Dan has many years of experience of working with children from birth to age 21. Dan has lots of experience and education on working with kids with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, sensory deficits, feeding issues, Down ’s syndrome, ADHD, and multiple other pediatric disabilities. Dan puts his passion and love for helping children into his therapy sessions making every one of the child’s therapy session fun, beneficial, and very rewarding!
Justin Casey - Owner/Physical Therapist Asst.
Justin received her Associates Degree in Physical Therapist Assisting at Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown SD. She also hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She holds a special interest in working with the pediatric population. In her spare time, Justin enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and sons.
Sara Hill - Occupational Therapist Asst.
Sara Hill graduated with honors from Lake Area Tech in Watertown, South Dakota. She has been employed with CTS since 2010. Sara states that the most rewarding part of her day is “watching kids faces light up when they accomplish a new or difficult task”. In her free time, Sara loves cheering her boys on at football and soccer games. She also enjoys cooking big family dinners, target shooting with her husband, photography, and snuggling with their baby girl.
Joseph Riggert - Speech-Language Pathologist
Joseph Riggert, M.S. Ed., CCC-SLP, earned his Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2010. He graduated in 2012 from the University of Nebraska-Kearney with a Master’s of Science in Education degree in Speech-Language Pathology. He holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed in the state of South Dakota for Speech-Language Pathology. Joey has worked with both the pediatric and adult populations and has experience in a variety of settings including skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, acute care, public schools, and early intervention programs. He currently sees a variety of pre-school aged children with communication delays and disorders ranging from receptive/expressive language delays, articulation delays, phonological delays/disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other various neurological disorders. One of the things Joey enjoys most about his job is knowing that the skills he is teaching his clients and their families’ early on are the skills that will help them succeed in life. He also loves seeing when kids and parents have “aha! moments” while they’re working together in therapy. In Joey’s free time, he enjoys listening, writing and making music, spending time outdoors, and sharing a good amount of laughs with family and friends.
Erica Frentz - Speech-Language Pathologist
Erica Frentz, M.A., CCC-SLP, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD. Erica works with clients ranging from pre-school aged to middle school aged children with a variety speech/language delays including articulation delays, phonological disorders, Autism Spectrum disorders, and language disorders. In her free time, Erica enjoys being outside, reading, scrapbooking and Zumba. Erica has a passion and a love for children that she incorporates into every session making them fun and rewarding.
Stephanie Stee - Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant
My name is Stephanie Stee, and I grew up in Gary, SD. I attended Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown, SD and graduated in May of 2015 with an Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant. I moved out to Rapid City and started working with Children’s Therapy Services in August of 2015, and I am loving it!
In my free time, I enjoy snowmobiling, hiking, camping, being at the lake, and being around friends and family. I also enjoy spending time with my five nephews and two nieces!
Andrea McDermet - Speech-Language Pathology Assistant
Andrea graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Communications Disorders and a Minor in Education. After graduation she moved to Arizona to pursue a career in her field. Andrea found a job working for a private agency and traveled all over the Phoenix area to provide speech, language, communication, and cognition to both children and adults. Andrea has worked with Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and many more. She worked for three years in Arizona before she decided to move back to South Dakota where she was born and raised to be closer to family.
Andrea is married with four dogs. In her spare time she likes to golf, hike, and go riding in the hills. She has had the privilege of working with children with a variety of speech, communication and cognitive disorders which have increased her knowledge to better help children and adults alike.
Samantha Meyer - Speech-Language Pathology Assistant
Samantha graduated from Mitchell Technical Institute in 2012 from the newly created Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program. She worked from 2012-2015 in the Huron School District and focused on preschool through first grade children. Samantha moved to Rapid City and worked with preschool children until she accepted a position with Children’s Therapy Services.
Samantha is married with one daughter. She enjoys swimming, hiking, traveling, biking, and running with family and friends.
Trena Hardy - Physical Therapist
Trena Hardy, PT, DPT graduated from Washington University in St Louis with her doctorate in physical therapy in 2005. Following school, she moved to Colorado, she started in a rehab setting in the hospital for 3 years and then transitioned to work in a full pediatric setting for the past 8 years. She was blessed to work with many different kids ages from birth to about 18 years and addressing issues including delayed milestones, muscle imbalance, gait impairments, movement issues and helping to alleviate pain. Her husband’s job brought the relocation to Rapid City and she is so happy to accept a job with Children’s Therapy Services to continue with her passion to work and serve the pediatric population. She is committed to act as the patient/family’s partner through the journey to ensure that the child will function at his/her personal best. She hopes to maximize the quality of life and movement potential of children within the spheres of health promotion, injury prevention through proper diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.
Krystal Pospisil - Speech-Language Pathology Assistant
Krystal graduated from Mitchell Technical Institute located in Mitchell, SD in 2012 with an Associate’s degree from the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program. She accepted a job at CTS in 2013, and moved to Rapid City. She loves to make the children she works with laugh and smile. In 2016 Krystal moved back to Mitchell to be closer to family. She is married and has three daughters and one son. In her free time she loves to paint, swim, scrapbook, cook, and of course she loves to spend time with family and friends.
Molly Stenger - Speech-Language Pathologist
Molly Stenger, M.A. CCC-SLP received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and Master’s Degree from The University of South Dakota. Molly has worked with children and adults in Schools and SNF. She is looking forward to working with children again. One of the things Molly enjoys most about working with children is seeing their faces when they accomplish a goal. In Molly’s free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. They enjoy doing outside activities: four-wheeling, golfing, hiking, and enjoying the beautiful weather.
Stephanie Fischer - Speech-Language Pathologist
Stephanie graduated from the University of South Dakota with her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2015 and received her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from USD in 2017. Her clinical experience at USD allowed her to work with children and adults in clinical settings, schools, and SNF settings. She has worked with clients with a range of diagnoses including phonological disorders, articulation disorders, language disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, and voice disorders. She has a passion for literacy and loves to make therapy fun and rewarding for her clients.
Originally from the Badlands of Wall, SD, Stephanie enjoys being outside, hiking, reading, and being around loved ones.
Alexa Martel - Occupational Therapist
A native of North Dakota, Alexa Martel graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Masters of Occupational Therapy degree in May 2017. While at UND she was an active member of the Student Occupational Therapy Association, volunteering her time and skills for those in need in the Grand Forks community. During her studies, Alexa completed fieldwork experiences working both with adults who have mental health disorders, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries, and also children in the school and clinical setting. It was these fieldworks that helped her develop a passion for working with the pediatric population. Alexa finds joy in helping children learn valuable skills to perform to their daily occupations.
Alexa moved to the Black Hills shortly after graduation and in her free time enjoys cooking, outdoor activities, reading, and yoga.
Lauren Ashley - Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant
Lauren received her Speech-Language Pathologist Assistants License under the Arizona Department of Health Services in 2012. She began her career as an SLPA for a private contractor on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona where she resided until September of 2017. She acquired her Bachelors of Science Degree in Speech-Language Sciences and Technologies from Northern Arizona University in August 2016. She recently joined the Children’s Therapy Services team and began working with us in October of 2017. Throughout her years as an SLPA, she has had the opportunity to work with a vast array of pediatric speech-language conditions, and truly loves what she does. She relocated from Arizona to the South Dakota Territory primarily to follow her husband into the ministry, where he currently Pastors a church in Pine Ridge, SD.
Jordan Sheffield - Receptionist
I have been a receptionist at Children’s Therapy services since October 2017. I do the schedules, verify insurance, and make sure everyone is taken care of. I grew up in Florida and moved here from Italy in 2011. I’ve been volunteering with the SD Special Olympics since 2012. When I’m not working I enjoy riding my Harley in the hills.
Danielle Frank - Speech Therapy Assistant
My name is Dani Frank. I am a Speech Therapy Assistant at Children’s Therapy Services. I grew up in Fort Dodge, IA. Most of my immediate family still resides there. I attended Iowa Central Community College, where I received a degree in Fine Arts. At the age of 26 I moved to South Dakota where I pursued another degree, this time in Communicative Disorders. I started working as a Speechie in Mitchell, SD as an in-home Birth to Three Service Provider. From there I moved to Austin, TX, where I continued working with kids as a teacher in a private school. After being offered a job in my field, in Rapid City, SD, I accepted and relocated. I have been adjusting to the new lifestyle for the past 10 months and am looking forward to the nice weather, so I can explore the hills. I am very excited to start working with your family!
Salvador Reza - Special Education Instructor
My name is Sal Reza and I grew up in Los Angeles, CA where I joined the US Air Force and visited many exotic and interesting countries and cultures. My wife, Melody and I retired from the Air Force and we returned home to South Dakota to settle down. I have always wanted to become a teacher. I earned two Bachelor of Science Degrees from BH State University in K-12 Special Education and Human Services with minors in Language Arts and Reading. Along my journey I have been blessed to learn along with every child who are unique in their own ways, their “aha” moments. In my spare time I enjoy hunting, fishing, riding in the hills and spending time with friends and family.
Stacy Hannah - Speech-Language Pathology Assistant
My name is Stacy Hannah and I am a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) for Children’s Therapy Services. I graduated with honors from Mitchell Technical Institute in 2014. I have worked with a variety of clientele from the Birth to three program up to high school age. I love helping individuals find their own voice and confidence to do things they never thought possible. In my spare time I spend as much time as I can with my husband, two children and my dog. You will normally find us out hunting, fishing, kayaking, hiking or swimming!
Brittany Halbur - OTD, OTR/L
My name is Brittany Halbur, but my kiddos know me as Miss B! I am an OT here at Children’s Therapy Services. My passion in general is working with kids, but specifically working with kiddos with sensory and emotional regulation and social skills difficulties. I received my B.S. in Psychology, with a minor in Child Development, from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, CA. I went on to get my doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. Knowing I wanted to work with kids, I completed all my internships in pediatric settings. I recently moved to Rapid City from Colorado. I live here with my husband, a baby and a teenager (daughters), and 2 fur-babies (a dog and a cat). I enjoy spending time with my family, particularly doing outdoors activities including camping, hiking, kayaking, and playing disc golf. I also enjoy reading and knitting (and other crafts).I love so many things about working at CTS! I love my kiddos and families, I love my co-workers, and I love working again in a clinic setting.
